Drone hits builder during site survey flight

A drone fell from the sky and hit a construction worker during a site inspection flight on a housing site in Lancashire. A report released by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch said the drone suffered a rapid loss of battery power above the Garsteng site. The remote pilot initiated an immediate automatic landing from the drone’s operational 50 metre height but it stopped responding to controls.

The project was completed in 2011 at a cost of £152m but has been dogged by a series of legal rows.
