First batch of foundations for National Grid waiting for integrity testing at the University of Sheffield National Grid is trialling the use of 3D printing to make reinforced concrete substation foundations. The collaboration aims to optimise grid development through the automated production of low-carbon foundations.

Boot begins Sheffield children's hospital

Going up on the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, the 43,000 sq ft NCCHT is being built for the Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust to improve healthcare for the young and offer a centre of expertise. Henry Boot was appointed to deliver the £17m scheme earlier this year. Completion is expected before the end of 2026.

Francis starts Wokingham school expansion

Francis Construction’s contract, for a steel framed structure on pad foundations , glazing and brickwork to the façade and internal finishing and MEP services throughout, is valued at £6.2m. The project is jointly funded by Wokingham Borough Council and the Bohunt Education Trust. The scheme was budgeted at £4.5m by July 2023.
