Lynch appeal sees £800,000 abnormal load fine reduced to £10k

An appeal by L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage Ltd has seen an £800,000 fine for moving an abnormal load without proper notification reduced to £10,000. The hirer was stunned by the size of the fine in April which it blamed on a clerical error. The hire firm was charged as part of Operation Nightstare by the West Midlands Police Commercial Vehicle Unit.

Illegal working blitz catches Indian builders

An ongoing crackdown on illegal workers has caught scores of Indian builders on construction sites. The latest nationwide Home Office blitz is in response to migrants working as delivery riders. DSM wins Norwich city centre clearance job

DSM Demolition has secured a £5.9m contract to clear and remediate the Anglia Square site in Norwich ahead of long-awaited regeneration plans. The Birmingham-based contractor beat off 14 rivals to land the job, which will see full demolition of all buildings and foundations at the former district shopping centre. TSL turnover smashes £500m as profit almost trebles

Fast-growing contractor TSL Ltd has smashed through the half-billion turnover mark with profit nearly trebling last year. The technical construction and engineering contractor is riding high on orders for data centres, cold stores and pharmaceutical plant work. Surging demand fueled a 77% jump in revenue to £527m for the year ending 31 December 2024, with pre-tax profit up to nearly £27m from £10m previously.
