A major milestone has been reached on the new $786 million Bridgewater Bridge project in Tasmania, with the pouring of the final pair of the 42 bridge piers this evening, marking the completion of the bridge’s substructure. The new Bridgewater Bridge is Tasmania’s largest ever transport infrastructure project, with the 1.2-kilometre-long bridge to include two lanes of traffic in each direction, a safe shared path for cyclists and pedestrians, and clearance for boats.
