It allows a Civil 3D user to define the shared coordinate system to be passed on to a Revit project. Note that it uses a file formatted as ACCSXML (Autodesk Consulting Coordinate System eXtensible Markup Language). Check it out, might help your next project? Dont define materials in families, define material parameters instead (or possibly sub-categories) as much as possible so materials can be assigned in a project, where they really matter. Dont include parameters in families that dont change geometry, instead put them in project templates and apply them to the categories they affect.

How tangible or detectable that performance gain really is will depend greatly on the scope of your project. This means each project should have its own workset structure based on its own conditions. When we have architecture and structure in separate Revit models we end up with somewhat clumsy graphics in wall sections. This is more pronounced if the structural slab is in the structure model only. It's a little easier to manage than reveals. Managing all the reveals could be a coordination nightmare.

It can be seen from within a project but not scheduled or tagged unless it is a built in parameter like those listed under the Identity group (and provided for us by Autodesk). Consider that a Project Parameter is part of a project and applied to categories of families so that it can be scheduled, but NOT tagged. ► 2006.

I can have a relatively small project site survey but far from origin and end up with Revit using Auto - Center to Center to place it. Move the files into position keeping them all near the Revit project file origin. For the snapping issue, i import my cad in a 2d drafting element family, make no modification, push it in the project.

The concept of View Discipline appeared with Revit Structure. It was meant to make it simple to alter the appearance of our model to be more in sync with what a structural engineer wants to see. Apart from the automatic graphically biased changes they make, they really just help us segregate views in the project browser.

I can work in a central file as long as necessary, as long as nobody else is working on the project in local files too. I've found that if a user is trying to open a workshared project at the same time as another user is synchronizing with the central file, the create new local checkbox is greyed out. ► 2006.

To make this possible you need to edit the walls structure and select a layer to unlock, like this: 1 - Click Modify, 2 - Select the edge of a layer, 3 - Unlock the padlock. It was tied to the project units and you had to alter a dimension style to not use the project units settings in order to use it. This means your dimension styles can continue to depend on the Project Units as well as suppress the spaces in dimension values. The option for Suppress Spaces exists in the the Project Units dialog.
